1. Check the Water Pump and Pressure Switch
Inspect your booster pump every 6 months. Ensure the motor operates quietly without grinding sounds, the pressure switch cycles on and off correctly, and there are no signs of minor shaft seal leaks.
2. Inspect Water Heater Valves and Hoses
Look at the safety valves and flexible water hoses on your ceiling water heaters. Check for rusting at the connections, crusty white mineral deposits, or minor leaks. Replace standard hoses every 3 years.
3. Exercise Shut-off Valves
Locate and turn all shut-off valves (under sinks, behind toilets, and main values) twice a year. This keeps the internal gate and ball mechanisms from seized up with mineral scale, ensuring they function in an emergency.
